Tony Norton is Director of the Centre. He is a Chemical Engineer with a background in the international energy industry and in depth experience of economics and commercial issues.
He has a detailed understating of climate change, energy, low carbon building and low carbon planning policy and has worked extensively across the region advising regional bodies and local authorities on climate change and a low carbon future. He has led the Centre’s work on the low carbon new developments in Plymouth, Sherford and Cranbrook and a wide range of projects with Exeter City Council including the detailed evidence base for the City’s climate change strategy and emissions reduction studies on existing residential and industrial estates.
Current commissions include advice on Local Plans and specific large scale applications where groundbreaking examples of putting site specific low carbon development policy in to practice are being developed. Tony has also developed evidence on energy from waste for as part of Waste Plan development.
