Ray is an ecologist and environmental scientist at the Centre for Energy and the Environment. His work mainly focuses on providing consultancy services for local authorities across a range of environmental areas including renewable energy, reducing land use emissions, carbon audits, and the built environment.
He has strong knowledge of and expertise in climate change, environmental data analysis, GIS mapping, energy, and low carbon planning policy. His background in ecological and environmental sciences also provided him with skills and experience in data collection, field surveys, biodiversity, and species identification.
Current projects he is working on include:
- Quantification of land carbon store and land-based greenhouse gas fluxes
- Calculating territorial greenhouse gas footprints
- Designing an embodied carbon policy compliance checklist for planning officers
- Calculating an organisational greenhouse gas footprint and designing a costed carbon descent strategy
