Dr Tarek Ihab Abdelsalam

Dr Tarek Ihab Abdelsalam is a Lecturer in Renewable Energy Engineering and Programme Lead for the Systems Engineering programmes. His teaching spans core Mechanical Engineering subjects, particularly thermofluid mechanics, as well as applied engineering design with a focus on thermal energy storage systems and renewable energy technologies. Tarek is a Chartered Engineer (CEng), a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE), and a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA). He is also actively engaged with a range of professional bodies and networks, including the Energy Institute (EI), Durham Institute of Research, Development and Invention (DIRDI), and the International Solar Energy Society (ISES). His scholarship interests focus on experiential learning, curriculum innovation, and transnational education (TNE), particularly in the context of engineering education and international programme delivery.
