Yidi Wang

Yidi is currently working towards his PhD degree with the Energy Harvesting Research Group in the Department of Engineering at the University of Exeter. His research specialises in vibration energy harvesting, with a focus on developing robust, high-performance energy harvesters for self-powered sensing and condition monitoring.

His research interests include smart materials, piezoelectric energy conversion, mechanical design, and finite element simulation. His previous research involved PZT-based piezoelectric energy harvesters for human-motion applications, providing experience in piezoelectric materials and energy-conversion principles. His PhD research investigates vibration-based energy-harvesting mechanisms, mechanical design, and finite element modelling to improve harvester robustness, power output, and reliability. The long-term aim is to support self-powered sensing and condition-monitoring systems in real-world environments.
