Dr Sarah Bunney - Water They Up To: CWS in the Spotlight

In this month's 'Water they up to: CWS in the Spotlight' feature, we find out more about Postdoctoral Research Fellow Dr Sarah Bunney.

What is your research about?

My research is focussed on the development of ‘smart’ stormwater management solutions to reduce surface water flooding and sewer overflows.

What is the most exciting part about your research?

The most exciting part of my research is having the opportunity to work together with some truly inspirational and innovative people. I can honestly say,  I really enjoy coming to work each day and exploring innovative solutions to real-world problems.

When thinking about water, what place comes to mind first and why?

When I was a child, we lived in Plymouth and on hot sunny days my parents would take us to Dartmoor to swim in the river. It was freezing cold, but fantastic (!)… until I got out and discovered there were leaches on my legs!

Which movie or book character would you most associate with water?

This is a tricky one. I suppose it would be a book about Leonardo da Vinci and his plan to divert the Arno River so that it no longer flowed through Pisa. This was part of a military plan to prevent Pisa from having any access to trade routes into the sea.
