CHANSE project India visit

In early March 2017, Professor Slobodan Djordjevic and Dr Simon Moulds went on a field trip to Bihar.

It was part of their work on the three-year NERC-funded CHANSE project. They were part of a team of twelve scientists from UK India, which spent a week checking gauging stations, wells, pumps and power stations in the Gandak catchment, which is the case study area on this project. The trip also included meetings with various groups of stakeholders – farmers, fishermen and water managers. Professor Djordjevic found the time to visit to the control room of the massive barrage at India-Nepal border. The field trip feeds into research that aims to improve the quantification of the dominant interactions and feedback between human activities and the hydro-meteorological system of the Indo-Gangetic Plain.
