SIM4NEXUS Workshop Attendees

SIM4NEXUS Workshop - V2

On June 26th, CWS and South West Water (SWW) organised a workshop for the Water-Energy-Food-Land Use-Climate Nexus in the South West (Devon and Cornwall). The workshop was part of the ongoing (2016-2020) EU funded project SIM4NEXUS, where both CWS and SWW are partners.

Within the project CWS and SWW are developing a complexity science model of the Nexus in the South West, using System Dynamics Modelling. The model will be used as the computational engine for a Serious Game for decision makers and stakeholders, that will enable them to examine various Nexus-related long term policies for the sustainability of resources in the South West, a highly innovative approach.

The workshop was attended by various stakeholders (over 20 people) from the Water sector (SWW), the Energy Sector (Western Power), the West Country River Trust and Torbay City Council. The purpose of the workshop was to present the ongoing work and get feedback and evaluation on the policies to be implemented in the Serious Game.

The workshop opened with an overview by Prof. Dragan Savic, followed by presentations by Matthew Griffey (CWS and SWW), Dr Lydia Vamvakeridou-Lyroudia (CWS), Dr Mehdi Khoury (CWS), Julie Smith (Energy Policy Group, University of Exeter, Penryn Campus) and Carolyn Petersen (SWW), with the participation also of Dr Barry Evans (CWS) working in the project and of Lottie McKnight (SWW), who was the main organiser.
