Trevor Bishop (Ofwat) giving a scene-setting presentation on the subject of resilience

Delivering Resilience in PR19 and Beyond

On the 23rd May, the Centre for Water System’s Safe and SuRe team collaborated with the Water Industry Forum to host a seminar in Birmingham, to share learning to date around what has been done to deliver improved resilience, both within the water industry, and from other sectors.

The day started with Prof David Butler and Trevor Bishop (Ofwat) giving two scene-setting presentations on the subject of resilience and sharing the outputs from the Safe & SuRe fellowship. This was then followed by two panel/audience discussions focused on smart resilience and on resilience metrics. The morning session focused on resilience learning from different sectors including Highways Agency, Heathrow Airport and Electricity North West, whilst the afternoon session focused on success stories from within the water sector and included Dลตr Cymru Welsh Water, Scottish Water, Severn Trent Water, United Utilities and Yorkshire Water.

Overall, it was a very successful event with over 40 people attending from water companies, consultancies and the government sector.
