Talk in Indonesia for Dr Albert Chen

This took place in at the APCC-ASEAN Disaster Management Symposium and was organised by the APEC Climate Center (APCC).

There were participants from 14 countries discussing the approaches to support research that will inform disaster management practice and policy. One area of particular discussion was the current disaster risk reduction research efforts in the Asia-Pacific. Dr Chen shared research from many EU, British Council and EPSRC projects which the centre has worked on.

Dr Chen said “Bridging the gap between science and policy is vital to the Centre for Water Systems. Speaking on the area of Disaster Management in Indonesia underlined this principle, and it is so satisfying to see our research influencing policy, and ultimately people’s lives”.
