Overview

I joined the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Metamaterials as as Postgraduate Researcher in September 2022. My PhD project is titled 'Measuring antiferromagnetic resonance in the THz band' and is supervised by Professor Euan Hendry, Professor Rob Hicken, and Dr Paul Keatley. This will initially involve building a fibre couple THz spectrometer to use to study antiferromagnetic materials.

Prior to joining the CDT, I obtained a first class MPhys Physics degree from the University of Exeter. My final project was titled 'Fabrication and application of magnetic thin films with perpendicular magnetic anisotropy' and was also supervised by Professor Rob Hicken. This firstly involved making and studying Co/Pt thin films for use in all-optical helicity-dependent switching experiments. I then made Pt/Co/Ta thin films in order to see if they could support magnetic skyrmions.
