Overview
I joined the Centre for Doctoral Training in Water Informatics: Science and Engineering (WISE) in 2014 and my PhD research seeks to improve understanding of how spatially distributed networks can be used to parameterise real-time flow and water quality modelling.
As part of this research I work closely with the Mires Project research group at the University (based in the College of Life and Environmental Science). This research includes high density hydrological monitoring in upland catchments and aims to improve understanding of the effect of landscape restoration on water storage, water quality and wider ecosystem services.
In the year before starting my PhD research, I worked for the University of Exeter as research technician on the Mires Project. Between 2009 and 2013 I spent 4 years as an analyst at the renewable energy agency Regen SW, and prior to completing my MSc I worked as a geo-environmental engineer at Scott Wilson/URS.
Thoughout my MSc at Aberystwyth University I developed my interest in water quality and undertook a study of metal and metalloid contaminants in water and sediments of the lower Danube and Romanian tributaries.
