Dr Mi Tian
Senior Lecturer in Low Carbon Engineering, Director of PGRs in Engineering.
Mi Tian is a senior lecturer in Low Carbon Engineering and a member of GSI community. Her research interests and expertise lie in the field of hydrogen energy, with a current focus on hydrogen storage media for low carbon combustion system and sustainable transportation.
Her major research interests include:
• Green synthesis of nanoporous materials, including porous polymer, porous carbon and MOFs.
• Neutron scattering for characterisation of hydrogen materials.
• Hydrogen storage and transportation.
• Hydrogen and deuterium separation.
• Hydrogen supply chain.
She significantly contributes to the development of porous polymer composite for on-board hydrogen system, which has a direct impact on light-weighted vehicle and low carbon economy. She has been leading the research on neutron scattering technique for hydrogen energy materials, which provides the fundamental properties of hydrogen and hence leads to novel hydrogen material design.
She was selected as one of Top 50 women in engineering 2020, received the Ede & Ravenscroft Prize in 2019. She is a full member of the Royal Society of Chemistry (MRSC) and a member of the IChemE (Institution of Chemical Engineers), and a professional member of Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (FIMMM). Her recent first prize presentation in the 4th INWED celebration organised by CEMPS can be seen here https://youtu.be/pbVRhc4wDrE
