Overview
I began my PhD in September 2018 after graduating with MPhys (Hons) Physics in July 2018. During my Masters project I worked with Prof. Winlove and Dr. Meakin on characterising the behaviour of the intervertebral disc in dynamic and static compression in bovine tail samples.
My PhD project is titled 'topological polaritons in atomically thin metasurfaces' supervised by Prof. Saverio Russo, Prof. Bill Barnes and Dr. Mariani Eros. The project will involve the fabrication, characterisation and nanopatterning of devices based on layered sequences of atomically thin materials, including graphene, boron-nitride and transition metals dichalcogenides. Working within the Russo-Craciun lab research group I will be taking optical measurements of the devices in photonic cavities, and working on the theoretical analysis of the fundamental transport properties of topological polaritons.
