It is the premier conference in variable structure and sliding mode control and brings together people from academia and industry.

Accommodation
Holland Hall is a modern accommodation facility at the University of Exeter, known for its contemporary amenities and fabulous views over the Exe valley. Located at the university's Streatham Campus, it offers en-suite rooms, each with a private bathroom. The hall's hillside location provides many rooms with panoramic vistas of Exeter city and surrounding countryside. It is conveniently location with just a 7 minute walk through picturesque grounds and gardens from the Harrison building, the central campus venue for the workshop.

Summer school
A three-day Summer School will take place at the University of Exeter from Saturday, 24 July to Monday, 26 July 2026, immediately preceding the 18th International Workshop on Variable Structure Systems and Sliding Mode Control.
Designed for PhD students and titled Sliding Mode Towards a Changing World, the programme will feature keynote lectures from leading international experts, interactive discussions, and student presentations.
The Summer School will focus on the latest advances in sliding mode control and their application to pressing challenges, such as decarbonisation, sustainable energy, and transportation, to name a few, providing participants with both theoretical insights and practical perspectives.
